International conference in the science and culture center Alsion at the border of Denmark & Germany.

The 2025 international climate conference taking place at Alsion in Sønderborg, will be the eighth conference in this series to be held in Denmark. With an offset in the strengths of the Danish/German border region, the overall goal is to exchange knowledge about climate challenges, climate change mitigation measures, and how to work most effectively towards 100% climate neutrality both in Denmark and the world.

Why Participate?

The 100% Climate Neutrality Conference provides a unique platform to:

  • Gain insights into the latest political, scientific, and technical developments in climate action

  • Explore best-practice solutions that make a real impact at municipal and community levels

  • Engage in dialogue with international experts, policymakers, industry leaders, and researchers

  • Strengthen networks and foster collaboration across borders and disciplines

What to expect?

  • Inspiring ideas and concepts from leading research, industry, and municipalities

  • High-level panel discussions addressing current and future climate challenges

  • Excellent opportunities for professional networking and cross-sector collaboration

On September 23rd, Clean and the PlastTrack project will host a dedicated workshop as part of the International Climate Conference in Sønderborg. The workshop will feature two key presentations:

  1. Marine Plastics – Jes Vollertsen, Aalborg University
Jes Vollertsen will share expertise on methods for sampling wastewater and detecting microplastics.

  2. From Land to Deep Sea – Where Do Ocean Plastics Go? – Anja Engel, GEOMAR Kiel
Anja Engel will present new insights from our recent sampling campaign in the Baltic Sea.

These presentations will set the stage for the workshop discussions, where the PlastTrack team will provide an overview of the latest developments and research directions in monitoring and reducing micro- and nanoplastics.

Clean and PlastTrack at the conference

Clean is proud to contribute to this year’s programme through the PlastTrack project, which develops advanced tools to monitor and address micro- and nanoplastic pollution in the environment. On Day 2, PlastTrack will host a dedicated workshop presenting new research findings from the Danish-German border region and highlighting innovative approaches to tackling plastic pollution as part of the green transition.

The project is supported with funds from the European Regional Development Fund Interreg Deutschland-Danmark.
